Energy + the REZ
EnergyCo has strung the first lines, with 64 towers standing. Its release claims $72
million awarded. In August we counted the tables and one $10 million stream published no
amounts at all. Those amounts are now up: 59.6 per cent of the stream.

Two rising in Bathurst, three in Orange, no overlap, and nothing in
the surrounding shires. The line between the two lists is who reports the offence.
Councils
Blayney gets 4.7 per cent for 2026-27 and Orange 3.0, against a state median of 3.7.
IPART nets population growth against supplementary valuations, and for the three cities
the new development already on their rolls cancelled the growth out.

A zone is a set of wires, not a set of wind farms. The official
figures, why this region was chosen, and where the community money actually comes from.

Landcom and Orange City Council open sales on 24.2 hectares of
council-owned land, with lots from $235,000. Both promise at least 20 per cent affordable
housing. What that actually means, and the two conditions Landcom attaches to it.

We added up every published grant from the REZ community benefits
program's first $76.5 million: 74 recipients, $66,062,047 disclosed, and one $10 million
stream that names its recipients without naming their amounts.

The build money is $30 million, and the government's release names
only $20 million of it. Taronga's audited annual report supplies the missing third, a
harder look at visitation, and a different opening date again.

Median weekly rent tracked quarterly, complaints about non-resident
workforce behaviour monthly, crime incidents quarterly. The REZ social impact plan names

A Multicultural NSW grant brings a new one-day event, the Kaleidoscope
Festival, to Victoria Park on 7 November, at no cash cost to the council. What the grant
buys, and what a brand-new event still has to prove.

Parkes sits where the Inland Rail crosses the Trans-Australian line,
serviced industrial land the state says reaches 80 per cent of the country within 12 hours
by rail. On 28 May the government added $65 million and more than 200 jobs from three new
tenants, taking the precinct to 12 businesses, with operations from 2029.

Charles Sturt is again Australia’s number one for undergraduate
employment (90.5 per cent in full-time work) in the 2025 Graduate Outcomes Survey. The
figure that matters for the Central West: more than 80 per cent of its regional students
stay and work in the regions, filling the skills shortages country towns feel most.

Councils
Council resolved unanimously on 7 July to operate the Orange Regional
Planetarium itself and exhibited proposed prices: $20 an adult, $15 a child, $10 a student
on a school visit, $55 a family. It also named the Conservatorium and the Mary Turner
Recital Hall. The full table, read from the minutes.

Six decisions from Bathurst Regional Council’s 15 July ordinary
meeting, read from the council’s own report: the TAFE heritage precinct renewal
framework, a draft flood study going to exhibition, the Ernst & Young finance review,
a refreshed bushfire map, dams at capacity, and a homelessness-event fee waiver.

The NSW Government’s $200 million Bathurst Hospital
redevelopment is in construction: an expanded emergency department, a dedicated mental
health unit, upgraded maternity and paediatrics, and expanded cancer care. What each
part delivers, and the completion date the project page does not give.

On Newmont’s own figures Cadia is the region’s economic
giant: 1,800 jobs, $5.04 million in 2025 community investment and a stated $1.2 billion in
gross regional value. Its own seismic updates record the other half, a magnitude-4.5 event
in April that paused underground mining.
